Dairy Queen is Open for 2009!!

On our way home today we noticed that the lights were back on at Dairy Queen! Even though they don't have chocolate and Rick and I aren't eating much ice cream, life is just better when Dairy Queen is open. And that means that spring and summer are getting closer!

Valentine's Day Dessert

Here is what Rick and I made for dessert today. I thought it was good, but Rick wasn't so sure about it.

Alex's Birthday Lives On!

Rick and I have been amazed that the balloons from Alex's Birthday Party (December 27th) have not deflated. They have lost some air, but aren't drooping yet. Jackie didn't get any of the special, long lasting helium either. Pretty crazy if you ask us! We are now wondering if they will make it until our birthdays...one month to go!

These were pictures taken today.

New Door to the Garage

Kevin installed a new door for us from the house to the garage. Our old one was not level and letting in a lot of cold air (and letting out heat). We could also see light through the door. All of those things led us to getting a new door.

You can see from the white paint next to the molding how unlevel the door was previously.

We also had a new screen door installed. This will be very nice in the summer to get air flowing through the downstairs.

I would also like the mention that this new door stays open by itself now that it is level!

Construction in Chesterton

My parents are remodeling one of the bathrooms at their house. Here are a couple pictures from the tiling that started today.
This is Chris--he is a friend of my parents and helping out with this project.

My mom is showing off her dirty hands.

Happy Valentine's Day from Puffer School!

Yesterday was our Valentine's Day party at school. It was the last holiday party of the year. Not something that left me upset. Here are a couple of the cute cards that I got from students yesterday. It is these types of things that make the bad days bearable.
This is from one of my 6th graders.
This ones is from a third grader. Her brother is in my class.
The outside is above and the inside below.
In case you can't read it, it says, "Dear Mrs. Hurckes, Happy Valtine's day Don't tell anyone this it is a secret you are my favorite teacher and you allwe's will be Love Ashley"

Furniture Move-In

Today we went to Cindy's to get furniture that she was no longer using. Here are some pictures of it moved in our basement!
The couch and chair are new. They are going to be much more comfortable than the futon, but no worries, the futon is being taken care of by Cindy.
A new arrangement for the dresser and TV. This will provide us with some much storage options since the two rooms are now one bedroom.

Looking into the new room.

The bedroom with a bed!

Armoire and closet--the doors will be put back on next weekend.

We have a moved a lot of other things around including putting a different dresser in our bedroom upstairs. We have a lot to move back in from the garage which will happen this week.
