O'WICH Pictures

Here are some pictures from our trip to Wisconsin last weekend. They were taken on Cindy's camera. You can check out all of the details on her blog here.

Here is Rick all suited up for the insulation process. He was quite a site. Carlo and Rick wrote each others names on their suits so they would mistake them later or so that Cindy and I would know who was who.

On Sunday, Carlo rented a wood splitter. Rick and Carlo were very efficient on this machine. They made short work of this wood. Now there is plenty for winter!

While the guys were cutting wood, Cindy and I played Scrabble. We also had a lot of fun taking pictures after the game was over.

I hate cleaning!!

I have always been pretty organized...at least to non-family members, but I hate cleaning, especially cleaning the house. I could organize things for hours on end, but when it comes to vacuuming/dusting/mopping I would much rather someone else do it for me.

My sister loves (or at least really likes) to clean. These are not genes that we share. Andrea would clean our room when we still shared a room (many years ago). She would clean my residence hall room and even my apartment every once in a while. Since we moved into our house, she even cleaned once or twice, but now she is in Turkey.

For the past two years, I was fortunate enough to have someone clean my apartment once a week at Ball State. I really took this granted at the time. I really do miss Darlene and Steve now.

Today has been a cleaning day for me. We are getting our furniture tomorrow and Rick is coming home so I would like the house to be clean and ready for the couches. Writing this entry is my way of procrastinating before the next task. Maybe the longer I am married the less I will despise cleaning....never will I LIKE cleaning!

The Irony....

On my way to school this morning I was listening to the Eric and Kathy Show on The Mix (101.9 FM). The show is mindless but makes the drive to work more bearable. This morning the topic revolved around teachers who already wanted to quit their jobs (3 weeks into the school year). Many teachers called in to the show. Most had large classes and were located in the inner-city of Chicago. One women even said she was trying to get pregnant just so she could take her maternity leave.

I am listening closely. Most of my thoughts are revolving around the fact that I WANT a job and these people want to quit! As luck would have it, today was not an enjoyable day at school. By 10:30am, I too wanted to quit my job. Looking back on the day, it is difficult to pin point what made it so bad. Mostly it was due to a lack of control. I don't have control over the schedule or curriculum and today I didn't even have control over my student. Without any control, I felt pointless being there. Which led to wanting to quit my job.

The thoughts have subsided now and I hope for a better day tomorrow.

The ME Tree and Weekly Roegner!

This week "Mrs. Hurckes" (that would be me) is featured in the classrooms in which I work. In the 3rd grade classroom the display is called the "Weekly Roegner" Mrs. Roegner is the teacher. In the 2nd grade classroom it is called the "Me Tree". I was able to show pictures of the family and friends and also bring in things that describe me!

Today I was able to share my obsession of Sharpies with bright young minds. When I was student teaching and shared this obsession students began to bring in Sharpies....I am interested to see if this happens again this year. I have no expectations, but spreading my love of Sharpies wouldn't be a bad thing either ;)

Today is Shor's (Mrs. Costello, the 2nd grade teacher that I work with) last day. She will be having her baby any day now. I am very happy for her, but I am going to miss her greatly. As some of you may know, I have high expectations of the people that I work with but I have been blessed to have two fabulous teachers to observe everyday! Shor is ready to pop though so that means it is time for Baby Costello to enter the world! Shor, I hope you enjoy your time with your new baby and Dominic, but know that I will be counting the days until you return to Highland!

Our Weekend at O'Wich!

This weekend Rick and I went to O'WICH with Cindy and Carlo. O'WICH is Our WIsconsin Cabin Hideaway. Rick and I have had plans to go to O'WICH for a couple months. The plan was for Rick and Carlo to put up foam installation under the house. Luckily that was able to take place. Unfortunately, I was very little help as I was sick and had trouble breathing most of the weekend. Some highlights of the trip were playing Scrabble with Cindy, Rick finding a dead bird in the house, the furnace NOT exploding while we were there, and going to WalMart (even though we had the world's slowest cashier).

Furniture!!!

Rick and I purchased new living room furniture this evening. Yesterday I went to Wickes Furniture while Rick was still at work and then we went to Harlem Furniture. Nothing struck so we thought we would keep looking. This morning traffic was horrible on our way to work, but it forced us to drive out of our way thus passing Dania Furniture. Rick and I checked it out after work tonight and they had a much better selection. We went back and forth between two sets, but finally decided on the one below (pictures from their website). We purchased the sofa, love seat, ottoman, and a rug. We will be getting the sofa and love seat soon, but the ottoman and rug are on back order.

Once the furniture is here I will post pictures in our house!

Job and commitment to Blogging!

Since I started my blog a few weeks ago, life has been crazy. There have been many changes including Grandpa Lee passing away, getting a job, and Andrea leaving for Turkey. I want to keep this blog up to date though, so my commitment to myself is to update my blog at least 5 times a week! Help keep me accountable!

Rick and I are planning on buying living room furniture in the near future, so be on the look-out for pictures and updates!
